RC Kids Annual Covenant
Signed upon joining serve crew, then once per year.
As a volunteer in the Redwood Chapel RC Kids Ministry, I appreciate the privilege of engaging in this high and holy calling to minister to children and their families. I believe my attitude should reflect the example of Jesus Christ in John 13, who took on the role of servant, by washing the disciple’s feet.
Depending upon God, I humbly and earnestly pledge myself to the following standards, which our church has adopted.
1. I will at all times manifest a deep spiritual commitment to bring Glory to God and the advance of His kingdom as I work with various children and their families within our programs. My first desire shall be to assist in helping bring about the salvation of each child who does not know the Lord Jesus Christ, and to encourage spiritual growth of those who do. I will endeavor to teach by example, as well as influence children to adopt a high standard of Christian discipline (e.g. bible reading, prayer, giving, etc.)
2. I realize that as a volunteer in the Children’s Ministry, I am a member of a team. I will do my part in attending all worker/teacher’s meetings and use my influence to urge the other children’s workers to do the same.
3. As a worker within the ministry of Redwood Chapel Community Church, I will teach in ways that are consistent with church doctrines (see Statement of Faith below*) and will set an example of Christian Character in my conversation, attitudes, attire and personal spiritual disciplines.
4. I realize that the reputation of Jesus Christ and also of the vocational staff and elder board of Redwood Chapel are represented by my teaching, attitude and behavior as I work in the ministry. I agree to submit to their leadership both in my direct ministry assignment(s) and in matters relating to the Children’s Ministry Department overall.
5. If there are any problems I observe or suspect with any of the children, I will immediately contact my supervisor confidentiality, and not act on my own initiative or speak to others outside of delegated leadership. Church leadership will then follow up with any reports of serious concerns including suspected child abuse or neglect.
6. I will not allow my own reputation or that of the church to be hurt in any way as a result of my behavior with the children. I will at all times avoid: a. being alone with a child b. touching a child in an inappropriate or rough manner c. talking to a child in an inappropriate manner.
7. If, at any time, through sickness or other emergency, I am unable to fulfill my ministry assignment, I will do my best to contact my supervisor in advance. I will at all times strive to arrive at my ministry location 15 minutes prior to the beginning of the session.
8. As a children’s worker, I realize the importance of being adequately prepared for my ministry. When teaching, I will strive to begin lesson preparation early in the week so as to make it valuable for both student and teacher.
9. I understand that my appointment as a volunteer is for a one year period, unless noted. If it is impossible for me to continue in my ministry, I will endeavor to notify my supervisor one month in advance.
